The most exciting thing for me is taking photos of people. It’s the interaction with people that make it "happen" for me and to bring something of them out in a photograph that gets a wow factor. This absolutely important to me.

The kind of studio work I do for example is about you. I want to make you look special and will do everything possible to find the right angle and look and expression to make you get that wow.

It amazes me that so many studios set the lighting the same for everyone. That just won’t work for me as a perfectionist. I work hard to get the lighting perfect and what works for one person does not work for somebody else.

After all, photography means “Painting With Light” and in a studio that painting is done with lighting. Lighting is EVERYTHING.

A bit more about me:

I got in to photography at the age of 12 when I first received my first SLR camera from my dad who bought me a Zenith B. This was a fully manual camera so he taught me all about mastering light and explained F-stops, shutter speeds, manual lenses and how to meter light with a Weston Master 5 exposure meter. I enjoyed photography so much we went on to make our own darkroom and began to develop our own black and white prints at home. We converted out attic for this purpose.

I’ve always been a creative person and have also enjoyed technical challenges. Photography meets both these characteristics of my nature. Computers also meet this challenge and interest. The birth of digital cameras was a natural fit for me of photography to join with computers.

Before the current development of the digital camera I was working in graphics for scenery development on computer games as an artist. In particular I have developed graphics for Microsoft’s Flight Simulator. This afforded me the skills I needed today for digital photography.
